Go get 'm Tiger!
There has been a lot of hoopsa around dear old Tiger Woods. Yeah whatever he did, I don’t really care.
Now what I find really interesting is that all of his sponsors have decided to drop him and that now poor old Tigie is sponsorless. And this I don’t get.
Because, let’s face it nice people around the globe… how many of you (or your neighbours…) once or twice in a lifetime find themselves playing hide and seek when they shouldn’t have..??? I really don’t think Tigieboy is the only one shopping around, and my point is: many many many people did/do the same as Tiger. And this actually makes a really interesting group of people to ‘market’ with!
And then of course, won’t you agree that Tiger was a bit too clean and cute and boy-ish? He is becoming a bit more rough and touch. All the troubles and worries are starting to show in his face. Tigie boy is growing up to be a man. A man with a past which he will have to overgrow and overcome. He shouldn’t have said the sorry thing though… that was very unattractive.
So, as a marketing person I really don’t see what all the hoopsa is about and why the sponsors all have gone running in the wrong direction.
I would call him right this minute if I had a bit af budget available!
Tiger gets more attention than ever and I am sure that many companies fit beautifully well with Tigers new image. Or even better put, I think a very large number of our population worldwide can (either secretly or out in the open) relate to Tiger. And this is marketing fine people of the internet. We have found ourselves a massive target group waiting to be marketed.
So Tiger, if you are listening. I think you are ready for the second part of your marketing career. Forget about the picture perfect you tried to fit yourself in before. All nice and dandy. Get ready to be you. Feel free. Yes you made mistakes, so what? Who hasn’t? Be brave about it. Be a man. Be straightforward. Be who you really are. Life can be tough at times, deal with it. Everybody else does as well. Do you get it? You are more human now.
And all the companies out their that have real balls (nope… not golf or tennis balls): don’t be a pussy! Don’t be such hypocrites!
